The journey
This May, strangers from all parts of the globe braved Covid-19 travel turmoil and quarantined on Vabbinfaru Island in the Maldives to create magic together for Lisa Von Tang’s upcoming Resort 2021 collection. Models came from Zurich, Rome, Singapore and Mexico City; videographers hailed from the Maldives, the photographer from Milan, and Lisa Von Tang’s fashion crew arrived from their home in Singapore. While knowing that an adventure lied ahead, they did not expect to go home from their journeys as soul sisters and brothers.
Here Comes The Sun is a celebration of joie de vivre, and an invitation to travel, at least energetically, into a stunningly fresh, bold and whimsical side of yourself. Sustainability plays a large part in how the collection came into being – which new research going into converting “waste” into new biodegradable, natural fabric blends.
Lisa Von Tang is the first fashion brand to create designs purely in 100% Rose Petal Fiber, and also uses Natural Hemp and Banana Fiber extensively in this new Resort Collection. We also continues to locally source textiles from ‘leftover production’ and create highly unique tailor-made pieces.
Different aspects of Lisa Von Tang’s core values of multi-culturalism and the harmony of Yin and Yang are present in this collection, for example the Tibetan Infinity Symbol, or Love Knot is embroidered into Hemp Kimonos, as well as unique designs of the Sun and Moon kissing. LVT’s certified and ethical workshops in Delhi, Singapore and Malaysia make this an inclusive pan-Asian team effort.
